Woodlands Nursery

The nursery offers an enquiry-based curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, valuing children’s voices and creating engagement. 
‘We’re really happy, surprised and honoured with the nomination,’ said manager Chandel Green and managing director Louise Northgrave. ‘Diversity and inclusion is part of our standard practice, but it’s nice to be recognised. 
‘We use a child-led approach, with communication being key, to create flexible learning opportunities which flow with the children’s interests. We work with the children to look at their individual needs and help them independently. 
‘It’s all down to our incredible team and working together.’ 
‘From the moment they became aware of his additional needs, the team at Woodlands Nursery went above and beyond to ensure his nursery experience was tailored specifically to him,’ said nominator Emily Jordan, whose son was diagnosed with Williams syndrome. 
‘They arranged assessments with his physiotherapist to make sure the environment was suitable and that they were using the most effective approaches to support his development. 
‘They have never treated Freddie as someone who simply needed extra support; instead, they have embraced his individuality and ensured he has every opportunity to thrive alongside his peers.’ 
‘They have helped him achieve so much and have gone above and beyond so many times for him,’ said Miss Jordan’s partner, Robson Kirk.
