Vikki Zabel has been nominated for Angel of the Year
About
Vikki Zabel has been nominated for the award for her work at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital's Emergency Department.
Ms Zabel trained as a nurse on-island through the Guernsey Institute. While in education, she started off as a first-aid volunteer before working full-time.
She said that every day is completely different, and she most enjoys making a difference to patients and their families.
‘Everything is rewarding. You get to help people on the worst days of their life,’ she said.
Alongside being in the Emergency Department, she also works for the ambulance service part time.
A particular highlight of the job, she said, is working across departments.
Her nominator complimented Ms Zabel for working countless hours across departments.
‘She deserves this award because her effort and care when she looks after you is unbelievable.
‘She makes you feel at ease. She really is one of a kind.’
She looks forward to the future, though she is uncertain about it. For now, though, she enjoys her role, helping people as part of the Emergency Department.
