Vale Rec Year 5 coaches

The Vale Rec Year 5 coaches have been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year Award.

About

David Stoddart, Timothy Rowe and Simon March all coach football at the club and have been commended on their resilience, kindness and inclusivity.
The nominator, Rebecca Tallon, praised the coaches for constantly giving up their own time to encourage and nurture the children. ‘The coaches teach the children to celebrate each other’s strengths and reflect on how they could improve, such important life skills.
‘My daughter started two years ago and it has been a joy to watch her self-esteem, confidence and love for the game grow under their care.'
Mrs Tallon also commended the coaches for constantly celebrating the team's success ,regardless of the results.
‘Success is not defined merely by the end result but how well the children have worked together, supported one another and held their own,’ she said. ‘It would be impossible to praise the coaches too highly.’
Mr Rowe, who has been coaching the team for the past two years, spoke on behalf of the coaches and shared their honour to have been nominated.
‘I am very surprised to have been nominated,’ said Mr Rowe.
‘Working with children often makes you see how sport can change and bring out the best in them.’
