Tim Gaudion and Emmie Bougourd
TIM GAUDION and Emmie Bougourd, at Guernsey Skateparks, have been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award.
About
They were nominated anonymously for their ‘exceptional dedication and support for skaters of all abilities, making the skate park a welcoming and inclusive space’.
‘We are incredibly lucky to have such passionate, skilled, and approachable individuals contributing so positively to our community,’ the nominator added.
Mr Gaudion has been volunteering with Guernsey Skateparks for four years and Miss Bougourd has been working with them for a year and a half. The park is open to the public daily but Guernsey Skateparks also offers several free lessons a week.
‘We run the sessions on an individual basis, so everyone can go at their own pace,’ said Miss Bougourd.
‘It’s a community that anyone can access, we have free supplies that anyone could use.'
‘Skateboarding is an inclusive sport, all about personal progression, people can have fun together at their own level’ said Mr Gaudion.
‘There is a good etiquette within the community to help each other out. It’s encouraging to see the better riders help out the new ones.’
Guernsey Skateparks also host Skate Jams in collaboration with Vale Earth Fair, and earlier this year celebrated the formal opening of an inside space at St Andrew’s Community Centre.
