Theresa Hamon

Theresa Hamon has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year Award by daughter Chloe Nash for the invaluable role she has played in helping her to raise her daughter.

About

‘She’s basically like a second parent to my daughter,’ said Ms Nash.
‘I’d be lost without her.’
As a single parent working full time, Ms Nash said she was so grateful for her mother’s support. One of the many ways Mrs Hamon helps out is by looking after her granddaughter over weekends.
‘I’d describe her as kind, caring, and patient. She’d put anyone’s needs before her own,’ said Ms Nash. ‘She is truly one in a million.’
‘I’m in tears here,’ Mrs Hamon said after hearing of her nomination.
Grandmother to four and great-grandmother to one, Mrs Hamon loves being a grandparent. ‘The best part of being a grandparent is just being around them,’ she said. ‘They keep me young.’
Mrs Hamon’s father died when she was young, leaving her mother as a solo parent. ‘I do what I do because I didn’t have it when I was a child,’ Mrs Hamon said. ‘Whatever needs to be done, I’m there.’
