The Ivy Trust
The team at The Ivy Trust have been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero of the Year Award.
About
The Ivy Trust was founded in 2013 by Shelley and Colin Samson, after their daughter, Ivy Grace, was stillborn in 2012. With the initial aim of raising money to purchase beds for fathers on Loveridge Ward, the charity has since provided stillbirth bereavement support.
Nominated for their continuous ‘support and work to raise awareness of baby loss,’ said an anonymous nominator, the team have touched the hearts of many.
They have also been commended for their work in creating a reflection garden on the grounds of Princess Elizabeth Hospital and providing bespoke memory boxes. These provide a safe place to remember those who have passed and for parents to keep precious items safe.
Mrs Samson spoke on behalf of the team and shared their pride in the nomination: ‘We are all feeling so very proud. This is an amazing acknowledgement of the charity’s work.’
The charity has various goals set for 2026, such as organising support groups, reaching out to local businesses and hosting its first annual event for the baby loss community.
‘This will be an opportunity for those who go through the death of a baby to come together in a relaxed, safe environment with their families,’ said Mrs Samson.
‘Being nominated can hopefully mean that more support can be raised for The Ivy Trust.’
