Tanika Roussel

Tanika Roussel has been nominated for Young Achiever of the Year

About

Musical niece Tanika Roussel has been nominated for Young Achiever of the Year by her proud aunt.
16-year-old Tanika’s musical journey began when her primary school offered her the chance to play a little violin.
‘I don’t know if maybe that’s where her love of music started,’ remarked mum.
One day Tanika asked her parents for a ukelele so she could teach herself. In secondary school, she did the same with an acoustic guitar. She sang all this time, in choirs and bands, then eventually sang to perform at her school’s battle of the bands each year.
Though now disbanded, her secondary school band Cheezy Beans swept the competition away in 2024 to win the battle of the bands that year.
‘I’m really proud of her,’ said mum. ‘She sings to her little sister.’
Tanika performed at last year’s Street Festival, and was encouraged enough to do it again this year.
Jessica Dean nominated her niece because of these talents. She also praised her character, and how Tanika supports her family and friends.
‘She’s excelled in school, and she’s very musical.’
Tanika wants to be a teacher when she grows up, maybe even a music teacher.
