Stephen Butel

Stephen Butel has been described as the ‘unsung hero of Alderney’ for his work in the local farm shop. 
‘He raises thousands of pounds each year selling raffle tickets from different charities and makes it seem like it is all in his day of work,’ said his nominator. 
‘I do not know him well but he offers so much help, remembers all the little details about you and he has raised such a phenomenal amount for such a small community.’ 
Mr Butel has been working in the farm shop for almost three years, after previously working in Admiral Park Waitrose, Guernsey. He has said that he loves the welcoming community of Alderney.
‘The community will help each other out and if someone new moves to the island they greet them and make them feel welcome. If you are walking home, they will stop their cars and ask if the person would like a lift,’ he said. 
‘I love talking to the community, helping local charities to raise money through selling the raffle tickets – they are just such friendly people.’
