Shaun Winterflood

Shaun Winterflood has been nominated for the Arts Contribution award for his unwavering dedication and significant impact on the arts.

About

‘It’s a surprise and an honour,’ said Mr Winterflood after hearing of his nomination. ‘The drama scene on the island has always been part of my life.’
Mr Winterflood has had a long history with the local Eisteddfod, first performing at the age of six. Earlier this year, he stepped down from the role of section coordinator for the speech and drama section in the Eisteddfod which he had previously held for the past 15 years, though he remains on the Eisteddfod board.
Mr Winterflood was also heavily involved with Gadoc for many years and ran his own drama school, Swats, for 14 years.
‘It’s very rewarding to watch the performers at the Eisteddfod each year and to see their confidence grow, sowing the seeds for them to go on professionally,’ said Mr Winterflood.
‘Shaun’s commitment goes beyond mere organisation, he has cultivated an environment of creativity, encouragement, and collaboration,’ said his nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous. ‘He has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Eisteddfod remains a vibrant platform for theatrical expression and that everyone and anyone feels included.
‘His passion for the arts has inspired many and his efforts have enriched the cultural landscape of Guernsey.
'His work has left a lasting legacy and we are all the richer for his commitment to the arts.’
