Seth Davey
SETH DAVEY has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award for his success in competitive cycling this year, including road and mountain biking.
About
‘It feels really nice to be nominated,’ said Seth, 17.
‘I didn’t expect it at all.’
Seth started racing when he was 14 years old, doing Flyers with Guernsey Velo Club at Delancey Park.
He now trains between seven and eight hours per week in the winter to prepare for races and competitions in
the summer months.
‘He has been one to watch in the last two seasons but has really come into his own this year,’ said his nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
Seth won Guernsey’s first road race of the season in March and was named in the 2025 Orkney Island Games mountain bike team the following month. Despite being among the youngest cyclists at Orkney, Seth was Guernsey’s top cyclist in the mountain bike cross-country, finishing 11th to help the team achieve a bronze medal, having already achieved a team silver in the mountain bike criterium.
Since the Island Games, Seth has broken two Guernsey under-18s records in road time-trials, surpassing the times of some former professional cyclists.
Feeling proud of his recent success, Seth is looking forward to his upcoming races. He is set to compete again in France during September and hopes to get over to the UK to compete more next year.
