‘They are a small dedicated team, with limited equipment, all pulled by tractor, but their reaction time is mere minutes. They leave whatever they are doing, night or day, to come to the rescue and perform just as well as any professional fire and rescue team,’ said their nominator.
‘With the fire on Sark on the 10th of July, after two days of non-stop battling they brought the fire under control. However, even a week later small fires were still coming up and the team has continued to dampen down the area to keep everyone safe.’
‘We had around 50 locals volunteering for the Sark fire, it was a total community effort, it was just amazing,’ said chief officer Kevin Adams who answered for the team.
‘We do not do it for a role on the fire service, we do it for the people.’
