Sarah Warr
SARAH WARR has been nominated for the Sustainability Hero of the Year Award for her dedication and hard work that she gives up in her free time to ensure our island stays beautiful.
About
Described by her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, as a ‘wonder woman’, Miss Warr is very passionate about the island’s community. As a registered wombler, she has been clearing beaches around the island for nine years.
‘She clears up bags and bags of rubbish in all weathers and is always supporting charity work. I wish there were more people like Sarah.’
Miss Warr was overwhelmed to have been nominated for the award. ‘I am so shocked and surprised,’ she said.
In her own time, Miss Warr also supports various charities such as The Rotary Shoe Box Appeal, which she has been involved with for seven years, and the Guernsey Welfare Service.
‘I am strong believer that someone is always worse off than you so it’s nice to know that I will be helping the elderly and vulnerable at Christmas time. I don’t have children myself so I get pleasure from helping young children have something nice to open.’
