Rebecca Meredith

Rebecca Meredith has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year Award.

About

Last season Mrs Meredith started coaching the Year Six football team at the Rangers Football Club and has been nominated for her dedication and commitment in bringing the team together.
At the beginning of the season the team were losing every match, but down to Mrs Meredith’s ‘encouragement, training and coaching ability,’ said nominator, Laura Bartie, the team did well in the Rangers sevens tournament at the end of the season.
‘She won the respect of every player in the team as well as the parents and other coaches. I believe with her behind them, the team will keep shining and winning trophies for the club,’ said Mrs Bartie.
Football has always been a huge part of Mrs Meredith life, having previously played for and represented Guernsey. She was shocked to have been nominated.
‘I have only been coaching there for one season, but after having played football I thought I could see what I could do to help the team,’ said Mrs Meredith.
‘Seeing the kids’ confidence shine and findings themselves,’ is what she described to be the most rewarding aspect about volunteering for the club.
‘I have a great relationship with both the kids and their families. The kids always give me high fives and fist bumps.’
