Rebecca Mann
REBECCA MANN has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year award.
About
Mrs Mann has been volunteering at the Guernsey Judo Club since 2017 as its secretary and has been nominated for the hard work she puts in behind the scenes.
Mrs Mann was honoured to have been nominated.
‘Rebecca is an integral part of the club’s success,’ said her nominator, Edward Mann.
‘Although myself and the fellow coaches are the faces of the club, as chair I can say that without Rebecca the club wouldn’t run as effectively and efficiently as it does. She puts her heart and soul into the club.’
Mrs Mann is in charge of anything from organising entries to competitions, securing transport, and organising fundraising events.
The club often struggles to gain sponsorship and funds due to judo being a niche sport but, with Mrs Mann’s dedication, it is able to run smoothly.
‘She is already looking at ways to gain sponsorship and funding for the club to go to the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands,’ said Mr Mann.
‘What I enjoy most is seeing the positive impact judo has on people,’ said Mrs Mann. ‘From confidence-building in children to creating friendships and community for
all ages.
‘This nomination really reflects the effort of the whole club and I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive judo community.’
