Rachel Lee

RACHEL LEE has been nominated for Emergency Hero of the Year.

About

For 10 years Mrs Lee has worked at JESCC taking emergency calls from people across the island. Despite the ups and downs – like all jobs – she has stuck it out and said she had 'found a family' within the workplace.
‘My work has made me more confident and broadened my horizons,’ she said, having increased her knowledge of the island and its people.
Earlier in the year Mrs Lee assisted a call where a man collapsed at the Halfway due to a heart attack, and guided a member of the public to perform CPR.
‘The call was quite chaotic but she managed to stay focused so he could go on to live and have a chance of survival,’ said her nominator, who wished to remain anonymous, but has known Mrs Lee for almost three years.
‘I think a lot of his life being saved was due to her,’ they added.
After the incident Mrs Lee met the man she helped save and said how lovely it was to meet him.
‘This incident will be one that stays with me because I’ve spoken to him and met him,’ she said. Knowing she is helping people and the close relationships she has with the team at JESCC is Mrs Lee’s favourite part of the job.
‘She always goes out of her way to help, she’s very selfless and always willing to help,’ said her nominator.
