About

Mr Bell-Smith has been working as a learning support assistant at Les Beaucamps High School for the past two years.
The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, commends Mr Bell-Smith for the vital support he provides to young people dealing with their mental health, well-being, and diagnostic journeys. ‘Philip is an extraordinary individual whose resilience in the face of profound hardship has become a source of inspiration.
‘His work is truly transformative. What sets Philip apart is not only his commitment, but also his honesty and integrity.
Through his compassion, honesty, and relentless dedication, he changes lives.’
Mr Bell-Smith was honoured to have been nominated for the award.
‘A lot of my work is explaining to these young people why they feel the way they do. I also try to give them a safe space to talk about anything that might be worrying them, because sometimes they just need someone to listen.
‘I understand how difficult mainstream education can be for young people, especially neurodivergent ones. Knowing I can help these kids have a better time than I did and make their experience of education better, really gives me a sense of fulfilment.'
