Nicole McClean

Nicole McClean has been nominated for Teacher of the Year

About

Nicole McClean said it was a lovely surprise to be nominated for the award.
After starting at Hautes Capelles in 2005, she has worked there teaching Reception and Year 1 ever since.
‘It has been a genuine privilege to be part of so many young children’s earliest school journeys, helping to nurture their curiosity and instil a lifelong love of learning,’ said Mrs McClean. ‘I love the many everyday “wow” moments that young children bring to the classroom.
‘Over the years, I have got to know so many wonderful families as their children have moved through the school. There is a lovely sense of community here, with teachers, parents and children all working together to create a happy, supportive learning environment.’
With demands on educators ever-increasing, Mrs McClean’s nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, thought she deserved recognition for her hard work.
‘Her teaching is second to none,’ said the nominator. ‘She appeals to lots of different learning styles, subtly modifying lessons without making it obvious to the children who she is modifying for. She allows children to thrive regardless of their learning style.’
They credited Mrs McClean with enabling their daughter to flourish after a difficult transition into school.
