Nic Legg

NIC LEGG has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year award.

About

Mr Legg was one of the founding members of the Guernsey Football Club and has been volunteering there since 2011, on top of his full-time job.
Described by his nominator, Julie Todd, as being ‘instrumental in the success of starting up Guernsey FC,’ Mr Legg plays a vital role for the club.
‘Nic has bags of personality and integrity and is totally dedicated to the club,’ said Mrs Todd.
It costs more than £400,000 a year to run the club, and as its commercial director, Mr Legg constantly needs to find different schemes to bring in revenue so that the club is kept sustainable.
This role involves raising funds, organising events, and hosting hundreds of visiting UK teams.
‘He dedicates so many hours into promoting the team. He is a truly fantastic sports volunteer,’ said Mrs Todd.
Mr Legg shared his pleasure to have been nominated for the award. ‘It’s really nice and I’m very surprised.
‘I put a lot of work into the club as it’s something I’m very passionate about. To know my work is valued gives me motivation to keep doing what I’m doing.'
He said that seeing fans enjoy the club and meeting people from all walks of life were the among the most enjoyable aspects of his involvement.
‘This club is like an extended family,' he said.
