Naomi McCreight

In her fourth year as the additional learning needs co-ordinator at Vauvert Primary School, Naomi McCreight has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award. 
‘I really enjoy seeing children thrive in different areas of the curriculum and being part of that support to make that happen,’ she said. 
‘There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child have a “lightbulb moment” where they just get the task at hand.’
Mrs McCreight most values working alongside the children and seeing their confidence shine. She believes it is crucial to build relationships with parents and carers to work alongside them in supporting their child. 
A big highlight for Mrs McCreight is also teaching the less confident children to swim. 
One nominator, Natalie Roussel, credits Mrs McCreight with playing a significant role in easing her daughter’s anxiety over going to school. ‘Parents really feel like they can go talk to her,’ she said.
‘If she says she’s going to do something, she will do it,’ said nominator Jess White. ‘She supports the parents as well as the students. She really fought our corner.’
