Mimi Smith-Le Flocq

MIMI SMITH-LE FLOCQ has been nominated for the Emergency Hero of the Year award.

About

Miss Smith-Le Flocq is a paramedic for the Ambulance and Rescue Service. She began her training on-island four years ago.
Her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, put forward Miss Smith-Le Flocq for saving a patient’s life during a cardiac arrest while she was working in Alderney for a couple days.
‘Mimi dealt with the situation in a textbook manner, leading to the unusual success for the patient,’ said her nominator. The patient was awake and talking by the time they reached the hospital.
‘It’s amazing to see the difference I can make for somebody in a moment like that,’ said Miss Smith-Le Flocq.
It was her first time as lead clinician working on a cardiac arrest.
‘It was the most fantastic feeling. I was beaming for a few days afterwards.’
Mimi also wanted to thank the community first-responders for their efficiency that had ‘played a large part in the brilliant outcome’.
‘To have shown such confidence, leadership, and knowledge of exactly what to do quite so early on in her career deserves recognition,’ said her nominator.
‘She is a role model to other young people to see that they can make good strides in their career at a young age.’
