Michelle Martel and Lottee Bonner
MICHELLE MARTEL and Lottee Bonner have been nominated for the Angel of the Year award.
About
The only two dementia specialist Admiral Nurses in the Channel Islands, Mrs Martel and Ms Bonner, have been nominated for their outstanding dedication and care to the families in Guernsey.
The pair have been in their roles on-island since 2022.
‘We are both very honoured by the fact someone has nominated us for Angel of the Year,’ said Mrs Martel and Ms Bonner.
'We simply love our jobs and gain great satisfaction daily by helping others.'
Their nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that Mrs Martel and Ms Bonner’s contributions to the island have helped so many within the community.
Admiral Nurses are qualified nurses with a professional specialism in dementia – and they have a focus on the whole family, providing support and skills, and making sure the family feel heard and supported.
Mrs Martel was keen to put her previous skills and knowledge of dementia care into a developing service to empower families, so chose to become an Admiral Nurse.
‘When the opportunity arose to become an Admiral Nurse in Guernsey and set up the service with Dementia UK, I really wanted to be a part of this to help connect families with their loved ones again,’ said Ms Bonner.
‘I think these women absolutely deserve some time in the spotlight for everything they have done and continue to do for the families here,’ said their nominator.
