Marie Helen De La Mare

'My nanan deserves an award not only for the strength she has shown, but for the love she has continued to give even when she was fighting battles of her own,' said nominator Carine Jennings.
'Not only has she previously battled through cancer twice, last year, she has to fight sepsis, spent a long time in hospital and had to learn to walk again. It's a journey that would have broken so many people and yet she found the strength to come out the other side and despite everything she had been through, she still continued to show up for us. 

'She is proof that even when life knocks you down, you can still rise again — and you can still be someone else’s strength whilst finding your own.  

'We honestly don’t know where we would be without her. Not just for surviving what she went through, but the love, strength and selflessness she continued to give after.'  

'I love spoiling them and spending time with them, it is such a beautiful part of my life,' said Ms De La Mare.  

'I am so shocked about this nomination, they definitely all kept this very quiet.'
