Maia Holland

MAIA HOLLAND has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award.

About

‘Extremely hard-working’ Maia, aged 10, was put forward by her grandparents Brian Holland and Mandy Sangan for her outstanding contributions towards local sport. Maia has been swimming competitively since she was eight years old and is proud to be a member of the Beau Sejour Barracudas.
‘She’s improved incredibly over the years. It’s her attitude. She absolutely lives for swimming,’ said Mr Holland.
Maia started swimming at six months old with her parents and has taken after her mother who was a strong swimmer.
‘It runs in my family, and I want to be really good at something,’ said Maia.
Maia continues to put her heart and soul into what she loves. As well as swimming four times a week, Maia competes in football and netball.
Maia won the Junior Honours at the annual Barracudas awards presentation earlier this year. Mrs Sangan praised Maia for her motivated attitude, describing her as a ‘totally dedicated and a great team player.’
‘I’m really happy to be nominated, at the end of the day I know, no matter what, I’ve achieved something,’ said Maia when she heard about her nomination.
