Luke Roussel

Luke Roussel has been nominated for the award after balancing work, family responsibilities and caring commitments over this past year. 
Luke works at the GSPCA, where he has spent the last four-and-a-half years caring for animals. More recently, he has also been involved with the organisation’s animal ambulance service, assisting with injured wildlife and pets, including birds, cats, rabbits and hedgehogs. 
Away from work, much of Luke’s time is dedicated to supporting his family. He has helped his son, who has autism, through meetings and major life changes, including helping him find a job in animal care. At the same time, Luke has taken on a caring role for his father following a stroke last year, regularly helping with food, shopping and household tasks while checking in on him throughout the day. 
Luke said balancing his responsibilities can be challenging, but he tries to help wherever he can. Describing himself as someone who struggles to say no, he said he often stays behind at work to lend a hand when things are busy because he cares about the animals and the people around him.
