Louise Le Pelley

Louise Le Pelley has been nominated for Arts Contribution of the Year

About

She has been nominated for her ‘outstanding’ commitment to the arts.

‘Her life is the arts. She works in the evenings and on weekends. There is no stop to her contribution,’ said her nominator.
Despite only starting painting during the pandemic, and with no previous training before that point, Louise now dedicates her life to the arts and tries to do all she can to promote Guernsey’s artists.
Her work at Guernsey Arts spans fundraising, marketing and partnerships, helping creative projects flourish across the island.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Louise is widely known for her popular Guernsey Pubs artwork, a series inspired by the island’s history and the stories found in its public houses. What began as a personal creative project has grown into exhibitions both locally and internationally, helping to showcase Guernsey’s heritage to a wider audience.
‘It’s really special to have the work I love doing recognised in this way, especially alongside so many talented people in the Guernsey arts community. It’s a joy and a privilege.’
Louise serves as languages coordinator for the Guernsey Eisteddfod, helping to encourage participation in French language and culture, while also supporting La Beltane festival in Sark. She volunteers with Guernsey Art Network and is involved in numerous community initiatives that make the arts more accessible and inclusive.
