Little Champs
LITTLE CHAMPS has been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award.
About
The club was set up in 2017 by Laurel Le Tocq, pictured, and runs multi-sport classes for toddlers aged two to four.
It has since added a class called LC Superstars which is specifically designed for children with disabilities and additional needs. This class was set up after a child with cerebral palsy was unable to find a club that could accommodate their needs. The class now runs monthly.
Sports should be available to all, Mrs Le Tocq said. ‘We never turn anyone away.’
Little Champs was nominated by Emily Tostevin. Her daughter, Caitlin, has been attending the club’s football sessions every week for the last year. ‘They show inclusion across all aspects of life, there should be more companies like them, they are fantastic across the board,’ said Mrs Tostevin.
Little Champs also hosts several ‘bubble runs’ to raise money for charity. This year the money is going towards Healing Waves, a charity that Mrs Le Tocq arranges to come to the island to provide adaptive surf sessions for people with disabilities.
