Lisa Smart

Lisa Smart has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award.

About

Having been teaching locally for 30 years, Mrs Smart has been working at Notre Dame du Rosaire Primary School for three years. In the last year she has been the school’s additional learning needs coordinator.
Her nominator, Thomas Leale, put Mrs Smart forward for going above and beyond in helping his daughter return to school this year.
Mr Leale’s daughter has been struggling with anxiety and an autism diagnosis, resulting in her being unable to attend school for almost a whole year.
‘Mrs Smart went out of her way to attend extra meetings with professionals to get my daughter back to school and put her at ease,’ said Mr Leale.
‘My daughter has been able to form a proper bond with Mrs Smart and we are forever grateful for all her efforts. She is a superstar.’
Mrs Smart was extremely surprised to have been nominated: ‘I am lost for words, it makes you realise that what you do every day can have such a positive impact on the lives of the young people we work with and their families.
‘I feel blessed every day that I can do a job that is so rewarding and brings me great joy.
‘Notre Dame du Rosaire is one big family, and I am extremely proud to be part of that family.’
