Lee Corbet

LEE CORBET has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero award.

About

Mr Corbet recently took part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s ride from Poole to Bournemouth, a global motorcycling event dedicated to raising money and awareness for men’s health. As the top fundraiser in the UK, Mr Corbet raised over £8,000 for the Movember Foundation, supporting mental health initiatives and prostate cancer research.
Mr Corbet thanked the islanders for their generous donations. ‘I cannot believe the reaction I’ve had,’ he said. ‘The local community have been amazing and so supportive.
‘I’ve struggled with my mental health, so I know how important it is to look out for one another. I want people to know that sometimes it’s ok not to be ok.’
His nominator, Debz Leaverland, described Mr Corbet as ‘the most amazing guy’ who tirelessly fundraises yet never looks for recognition. ‘If a hero is always thinking of others before yourself, then that’s Lee,’ she added.
‘He shows that it doesn’t matter what happens to you, you can still get up and do something great for the community.
‘Guernsey people are full of compassion and hospitality, and Lee is a true Guern.’
