Laura Wilson-Green has been nominated for Teacher of the Year
About
‘I cannot imagine working anywhere else,’ says a St Sampson’s High School teacher nominated for the award.
Laura Wilson-Green began teaching as Covid ended. She started in Leeds, then moved to Guernsey in January 2024.
‘I was initially supposed to be at Les Beaucamps High School for a three to six month supply contract, but I loved the island so much that I found a permanent job.’
Ms Wilson-Green described young people as enthusiastic, energetic and occasionally unpredictable.
‘It can be challenging occasionally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.’
Ms Wilson-Green also complimented her school’s community spirit. She praised the support shown towards students and staff.
Ash Eborall, a student at St Sampson’s High School, nominated her teacher because ‘she tries her best to ensure that every one of her students gets the most out of their lessons.’
Her lessons contained fun moments that were sure to become memories for years to come. ‘I cannot thank her enough for everything she did for me,’ she said.
Ms Wilson-Green thanked her nominator and said, ‘It means a lot to know that one of my students appreciates me so much.’
