Laura Simpson and Lydia Jane Pugh

Laura Simpson and Lydia Jane Pugh have been nominated for Arts Contribution of the Year

About

Laura Simpson and Lydia Jane Pugh's original musical Radio Silence showcased last year, and was highly popular, encouraging them to make future plans to take the show on tour.
‘They have not only produced a memorable and innovative piece of theatre but have also made a really significant and lasting contribution to the arts community.
‘They have demonstrated extraordinary vision, dedication and commitment in
bringing to life an ambitious and innovative original musical centred on the fictional interactions between a local family and the occupation soldiers following the historic Guernsey White Rock bombing,’ said their nominator.
Ms Simpson said: ‘There are so many opportunities to express our artistic side.'
After both Ms Pugh and Ms Simpson grew up around the arts, they have been deeply involved within Guernsey’s performing arts scene. ‘My life’s work is music, arts and performing,’ said Ms Pugh.
They have future plans to continue the musical further with creating an album and take it on tour to share with others the forgotten stories in Guernsey.
‘It is so lovely that someone has taken the time to put us forward,’ said Ms Simpson.
