Kayleigh Mills

KAYLEIGH MILLS has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero award.

About

Miss Mills has been advocating for a change in the Road Traffic Ordinance law after realising that drivers are not required to report hitting a cat.
She witnessed this for herself after seeing two cats get hit and killed, with the drivers leaving the scene of the accident.
She has since started an online petition that now has more than 900 signatures and contacted election candidates for further support.
‘She deserves something,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous. They also praised Miss Mills for her initiative.
Miss Mills hopes the next stage of the petition is for it to be taken to the States and for the law to be changed.
‘It is a privilege to be nominated. The petition is a great thing for the community as cats are a cherished member of every family,’ she said.
