Julie Hetherington has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year
About
Being a grandparent feels completely different to being a parent, says one person nominated for the award.
Julie Hetherington, along with her husband, helps care for her grandson who is currently going through a diagnosis for ADHD.
Overwhelmed with news of the nomination, she said that it was lovely and quite something to be nominated when she is ‘just a granny to Hugo.’
‘As a grandparent you don’t expect anything, it’s just part of what you do.
‘He’s our world, I love spending time with him and he just fills my heart. We try to support Hugo and his mum however we can.’
‘Julie is a legend,’ said nominator Gemma Hamon, ‘I’m not sure how she manages working full time and looking after her grandson.
‘She works tirelessly to look after Hugo, he has learning disabilities and can be a handful at times but she
is so kind and patient with him.
‘I am a friend who has noticed how hard she works, she deserves credit for what she does.’
