Jonathan Harris

Jonathan Harris, father to 15-year-old Hayley Harris-Lowe, was shocked to be nominated for the Parent of the Year award. 
‘Hayley is my world’, he said. ‘She’s always at the forefront of my mind and I’ll do anything for her. I am an immensely proud dad.’
After adopting Hayley at age three, Mr Harris said that being a father has transformed his life. ‘Being able to be a parent is not something I ever expected, as I’m gay. We fought hard to be adoptive parents.’
Miss Harris-Lowe said that she nominated her father because ‘he makes me smile every single day and puts a smile on the face of everybody he knows.’ She said that she appreciates that he supports her in trying new things, and that he is always funny and helpful.
Together, Hayley and Mr Harris enjoy cooking, watching movies, and playing with their whippet Bertie. ‘My dad has the ability to bring joy to people wherever he goes and whatever room he is in,’ she said. 
‘I consider myself to be the luckiest person in the world.’
