Joe Hind

Joe Hind has an ‘infectious enthusiasm that inspires players’ in Guernsey Dynamics Football Club, says the person who nominated him for Sports Volunteer of the Year. 
Mr Hind began working for the club four years ago, and now serves as assistant 
coach, runs social media, and sits on the committee. 
‘My stepson had an interest in football so that night I went down and offered my services. Now, here we are,’ he said.
He especially enjoys seeing players grow in confidence. People who had never been away without their parents could now go on a five-day trip to Ireland, without any issues. 
‘To see people out of their shells means we must be doing something right.’ 
His nominator complimented Mr Hind for his leadership and role in creating a culture where everyone feels valued. 
Several players, they said, have overcome anxiety while aided by Mr Hind’s patience, encouragement, and unwavering support. 
‘The impact of his volunteering is measured not only in matches played or tournaments attended, but in the lives he has helped change.’ 
Mr Hind also sacrifices his own time for playing football to help the team and he has gone on to build a network of volunteers that share his passion for making football accessible. 
Mr Hind spoke positively of the effect that playing has on members of Guernsey Dynamics Football Club. 
‘Someone crippled with anxiety can go to school and play football.’
