JILL CHADWICK has been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award.
About
Ms Chadwick works as the coordinator for the Salvation Army, where she has been for 18 months. She previously worked for Guernsey Mind, where she set up the Hope for Singers Choir.
‘I’m loving my work at Salvation Army and I’m happy to see the choir continues,’ said Ms Chadwick.
Three years ago Ms Chadwick also set up her own choir, alongside Andrew Warren, called Kintsugi. The name came from the Japanese art practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. The choir now has around 50 members and practises at Les Capelles Community Centre.
‘The team and I have created a vibrant community there,’ said Ms Chadwick.
‘It’s so important to have good mental health which is why I work in the community, everyone likes to belong.
‘What drives me is being active and getting people together.'
Ms Chadwick’s nominator particularly praised her for her ‘bubbly personality’ and ‘gift of charisma’.
‘She encourages speaking out for mental health and is always helping people,’ said the nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘Her enthusiasm is so very infectious, this is what drives people to go the extra mile and get out and leave their troubles behind.’
