‘My main focus is the islands and showcasing their beauty with big and bold colours,’ said Mr Colmer, after hearing he had been nominated for the Arts Contribution award for his local murals. 
‘Growing up on an island, I have always felt really connected to the sea.' 
Much of Mr Colmer’s work centres local seascapes and townscapes. 
He has stayed busy since he left his 9-5 job four years ago, taking the leap to pursue art professionally. 
Recently, Mr Colmer was commissioned to create a mural of St Peter Port harbour at Le Vieille Plage to provide recognisable and comforting views for the residents. 
He has produced similar murals at the De Sausmarez and Roustel wards at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, painting Sausmarez Park and local landscapes. He was also asked to paint a wildlife mural and historical timeline for the Lihou Island Wildlife Museum, as well as a tropical mural of a chameleon adorning the staircase at St James. 
‘It is wonderful to see his art depicting our island, bringing such vibrancy and life to local spaces,’ said Mr Colmer’s nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous. 
‘To think someone has taken the time and effort to bring joy into places like Le Vieille Plage and the hospital wards, where people might have some difficult days, is a wonderful and significant contribution to the community.
‘It is a source of pride for Guernsey to be depicted so beautifully,’ they said.
