Jacqueline Wheatley
Jacqueline Wheatley has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year
About
Jacqueline Wheatley said that she was surprised to learn of her nomination for the award.
She said that she thought she was just doing ordinary things for her grandchild.
‘I always try and help, that’s what family is for, to help each other,’ she said.
After losing her husband Paul earlier this year, Jacqueline said that she felt a lot of responsibility to try and fill a big hole as she is now the only grandparent in her granddaughter’s life.
She added that it was nice to see her grandchild growing up and to be able to support everyone while they go through a challenging time.
‘I want her kindness to be rewarded, for her to know that even though we may not say it often, we really appreciate everything that she does for us and what she continues to do,' said nominator Ebony Sloper.
'She’s our hero.
‘She has helped so much with our daughter and I don’t know how we could ever repay her.
'Her kindness and passion for her family is admirable.’
