Jack Door
JACK DOOR has been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award.
About
Mr Door has been working at the German Naval Signals HQ museum for the past three years and has been nominated for ‘giving a truly personalised experience’ to all its visitors.
He was put forward by his daughter Audrey, 8, who said: ‘I like the way he tells the stories to bring the museum alive.’
He achieves this through giving customers the opportunity to communicate through Morse code. Mr Door has done plenty of research on the Second World War in his spare time so he is always ready to answer visitors’ questions.
‘He watches many shows surrounding the topic so that he can do his job well.’
Mr Door said: ‘I’m feeling so happy to be nominated. I love my job so much. It is hugely rewarding.’
‘For me, the educational aspect of illustrating the real-life events to visitors is important. Equally, so is the human aspect of getting to know everyone who comes into the bunker.'
At times Mr Door can be spending two to three hours at a time with visitors.
‘Every person visiting is given a wonderful time at the Signals HQ when my dad is working there,' said Audrey.
