Iveta Zalaiskalna

Ms Zalaiskalna works as a support worker in the radiology department at the PEH, and has been working there for three years. Ms Zalaiskalna is originally from Latvia but moved to the island 17 years ago.
‘I work with X-rays, MRIs, CT scans and things like that,’ she said. 
Before working in the radiology department she was previously a carer and spent time working in an office, which she said she didn’t enjoy. 
‘This is my soul job,’ she said.
‘Every day is different, every person is different, some are calm others are nervous, you have to adapt to that.
‘I comfort people when they’re stressed and worried about what’s going to be done to them,
‘I love my job, I hope I stay there and that it doesn’t change. 
'I see my future there.’ 
Ms Zalaiskalna’s nominator wishes to remain anonymous but praised her for her profound impact on patients.
‘She doesn’t get enough recognition,’ they said. 
‘She looks after them and has a loving and caring nature.’
