India Waterhouse

India Waterhouse grew up on Herm and has moved back as an adult, and has now been nominated for Emergency Hero of the Year for her work as one of Herm’s community first responders.
Her nominator, who would like to remain anonymous, stated that ‘She makes a real difference to our lives for people who need help in their vulnerable moments.
‘Her kindness and her care makes a lasting impression on everyone that she meets.
‘She embraces every opportunity to develop her skills and knowledge, and her confidence has grown tremendously since joining the team.’
‘What I love about the job is that you get to be there for people’s vulnerable moments and comfort them,’ said Ms Waterhouse.
With Herm being a small island, there can be some challenges with a patient getting the immediate care that they need. ‘The time it can take for someone in a dire situation who is need of a hospital can be challenging as we do not have everything on the island, however both Guernsey’s and Herm’s response team work their hardest.’
