Herm Service Team
THE Herm Service Team has been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award.
About
The team works on the general upkeep of the island, including agricultural maintenance, transportation of cargo, as well as assisting residents and guests.
Their nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, put the team forward for their commitment to the people of the island.
‘Herm simply couldn’t function without them,’ they said. ‘They’re the people working quietly in the background so the rest of us can enjoy the island safely and comfortably.
‘They are calm, capable and ready to help, even when it’s not easy.’
Their nominator recalled the recent breakdown of The Seahorse, the cargo vessel carrying essentials for Herm residents.
The team pulled together outside of working hours to bring the shipments to the island, preventing thousands of pounds-worth of food from rotting on the quay.
‘They go out of their way to help others,’ said their nominator.
James Hastings, the head of technical services in Herm, leads the team and said that he is always able to rely on his colleagues. ‘There will always be someone willing to help – day, noon, or night.’
Mr Hastings said that it was great for the team to be recognised.
‘They certainly deserve it. It wouldn’t be Herm without them.’
