Helen Durkin
Helen Durkin has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero of the Year award.
About
Mrs Durkin is a valued member of the Brownie community where she first began her journey as a leader at 18 years old. She has since celebrated 25 years of volunteering and was presented with the Chief Commissioner’s Service Award last year.
Mrs Durkin was honoured to have been nominated: ‘I was a bit shocked but it was fantastic to hear.’
This summer she has been on various trips to the beach and park with the group and describes one of the many highlights of the job as ‘just being with the kids’.
The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, praises Mrs Durkin for the countless hours of dedication and support she provides to the young girls.
‘Her constant dedication shows her passion for this role and just how much she enjoys it.
‘Helen is always able to put a smile on the girls’ faces creating such a positive experience for them and providing them with someone they can look up to.
‘She is truly deserving of this award.’
