Guernsey Employment Trust

THE Guernsey Employment Trust has been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award.

About

‘Our purpose is all about social inclusion, participation and belonging, so to be nominated for this award is hugely validating, as that’s what the trust is all about,’ said chief executive Nikki Ioannou-Droushiotis.
The charity connects people with disabilities with employers and supports them in the workplace.
The team currently provides support to 281 disabled and disadvantaged people.
‘Workplaces that embrace difference and diversity are often the most enjoyable and successful,’ she said.
‘If we can have a part in that in Guernsey, then we’ve done our job.'
The trust's anonymous nominator said: ‘The trust embodies the values of inclusion, empowerment, and social progress.
'They treat each client with dignity and respect, focusing on individual strengths and aspirations rather than limitations.’
‘Their work goes far beyond simply matching people with jobs.
'They provide tailored guidance, practical training, and ongoing support that genuinely transforms people's lives.'
The charity is about to launch the second edition of its Employers’ Disability Charter, which is about promoting inclusion in the workplace and prompting companies to review workplace attitudes and policies.
The team is also looking to raise more awareness among young people of the services they provide.
It hopes to secure smoother transitions for those who may interact with the trust after leaving school.
