GSPCA

The GSPCA has been nominated for the Emergency Hero of the Year

About

‘It is just amazing how hard they work, it is an honour and a privilege to work with such a great team,’ said nominator Steve Byrne. The business began 153 years ago and still remains to be the only animal rescue shelter on the island.
‘The GSPCA mans the shelter and ambulance 24/7 to help hundreds of animals hit by cars to thousands needing our help every year,’ said Mr Byrne.
The GSPCA had recently been dealing with hundreds of rabbits which are infected with myxomatosis, and have been treating them all.
This time of year they are consistently busy with animals left in hot cars, cruelty cases, reuniting animals to owners and animals hit on the road.
‘Such an incredible team at the shelter to make sure hundreds of animals are helped each year and the work is never ending,’ said Mr Byrne, who is the manager and who spoke for the team at GSPCA.
‘Reuniting the animals to owners or releasing wildlife back into nature, nothing warms the heart more and motivates us to help more.’
