Gama Aviation staff
GAMA AVIATION has been nominated for Emergency Hero of the Year.
About
The team have been nominated for their service to Guernsey through their emergency air ambulance and medevacs.
The company was founded in 1983 and has been serving the Channel Islands since 2020. ‘Our fundamental service and partnership with the islands are to benefit the residents,’ said Gama account manager Simon Lambert.
‘For us this is normal, for patients this is a once-in-a-lifetime, so there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. We take on patients’ feedback to make the service the best it can possibly be,’ he said.
Gama Aviation was nominated by Marlene Allain, after she had to use their service twice last year. Marlene had a fall in October and was first taken to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, but her fall had caused a brain bleed and she had to be taken to Southampton via helicopter.
‘The doctor told my family I wouldn’t make it, so whatever they did clearly worked,’ said Mrs Allain. ‘I owe my life to them.’
Mrs Allain was unconscious on the way over to Southampton, but she spoke highly of the team on the way back. ‘They were absolutely brilliant, so chatty, smiley and nice,’ she said.
