Freddie Brier-Janes

FREDDIE BRIER-JANES has been nominated for the Arts Contribution of the Year award.

About

Freddie, 15, has been building his portfolio as a local photographer for three years.
He was put forward by friend Rory Hodder, who said: ‘The amount of hard work Freddie puts in is admirable.
‘He’s doing incredible work as he wants to seek out the opportunities.’
Freddie said: ‘What I enjoy most about photography is being able to capture moments in time, I think of every photo as a memory that you can keep revisiting as you please.
‘Everywhere you go, there is a different landscape to see, and it is always calming. I find photography a way to be able to escape from the stresses of life.'
His work has previously been selected for the Bailiwick Wildlife Exhibition.
He has also developed his skillset through volunteering as part of the media team at the 2023 Island Games, and more recently offering headshots to candidates standing in the election.
Rory praised Freddie for promoting the island through his landscape photography that he sells online.
‘He goes into the history and nature of Guernsey. He’s allowing people to realise how lucky we are to live here.’
‘Freddie is an inspiration to other young people to have that belief that they can do anything,’ he added.
