Eva Redelinghuys
Eva Redelinghuys has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year Award.
About
Eva, 17, has been nominated for representing the island at the Youth Parliament sitting in the House of Commons earlier this year.
Eva first got involved within the island’s youth forum three and a half years ago, where she was since selected by a judging panel to represent our island, which has only happened once previously.
Performing a two-minute speech in the House of Commons regarding the economy and population, Eva addressed the main issues which affect the island.
‘I am over the moon to have been nominated. I try to do as much as I can to get young people to use their voice,’ said Miss Redelinghuys. ‘It was an amazing opportunity to go somewhere where people can use their voice and share their views.’
In the run-up towards this year’s election, Eva also led a campaign that encouraged young people to vote. She achieved this through going into schools and leading assemblies.
The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, commends Eva for her commitment. ‘Eva is an inspiration to other young people on the island as to how much impact their voices can carry.
‘She is fiercely intelligent and articulates her thoughts so well. Eva was the perfect candidate to represent our island.
‘I hope she pursues her interest in politics further as her dedication and ambition will take her far.’
