About
Miss De Sousa has been working in education for 10 years and has been at the College of Further Education for the last seven. She works closely with special educational needs students and has been nominated for going above and beyond in her teaching.
Described as ‘compassionate and inspiring’ by her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, Miss De Sousa shows dedication to her students and always puts their needs before anything else.
‘Erica is always front of the class with a smile on her face, keeping everyone comfortable and happy,' said her nominator, who also commended her for providing students with essential life skills, such as organising work experience and meal cooking while ensuring that her lessons are fun and engaging. ‘Her ability to work with SEN students and make them ready for work is amazing. They gain so many life skills from her lessons.’
Miss De Sousa was delighted to have been nominated for the award: ‘I am completely in awe,’ she said.
‘Meeting new students and watching their educational journey is so rewarding.’
