Emmie Bougourd

EMMIE BOUGOURD has been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion award.

About

Miss Bougourd has been working at the Youth Commission as a youth support worker for four years.
Sammy Jones nominated her for her kindness and dedication to helping support young people.
‘Emmie truly stands out as an incredible youth worker. She is so understanding and creates a space where you feel safe and supported,’ said Miss Jones. ‘She listens without judgement and shows up to remind people that they are not alone.
‘She’s made a big difference in my life. I feel her impact goes beyond her role.’
Miss Bougourd said she felt privileged to have been nominated for the award.
‘Being able to support young people and create spaces where they feel seen, safe, and celebrated is such an honour,’ she said.
As a teenager, Miss Bougourd struggled with mental health which she later found out was undiagnosed ADHD, ‘I know how isolating it can feel when you don’t fit the mould or feel like you don’t belong anywhere,’ she said.
‘That experience drove me to be the person I wish I’d had at that age. Someone who listens, who understands and helps see that you’re not alone. If that comes across in my work, I couldn’t ask for anything more.’
