Emil Friedrich
EMIL FRIEDRICH has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award.
About
Emil, 14, is a dedicated athlete, achieving three national titles and holding eight Guernsey records for his athletics, including sprints and middle-distance running, pentathlons, shot put, and long jump. Emil is also committed to environmental activism through his social media presence and photography.
‘I take pride in competing in my Guernsey vest. As someone who moved here from Germany, I don’t consider myself a Brit, nor a German, but a Sarnian,’ said Emil.
‘He’s a very impressive young man who’s laying the groundwork for great things,’ said his nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
Emil has worked hard to get to where he is today. ‘From training six days a week to controlling nutrition, sleep and mindset, as well as maintaining my other work in photography, programming, environmentalism, school, and more. It can definitely be exhausting but it’s all part of the journey,’ said Emil. ‘It’s not something I’ll ever regret.
‘I’m proud about getting to where I am. Representing not only Guernsey but the people I hold closest to me. I work so hard to make my dream come true, and it’s now all starting to come together.
‘I’m motivated and dedicated to etching my name into the history books through various different ways.’
Emil is currently training for the English Schools Combined Events Championships coming up in September and is also in the process of organising a fundraiser with the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers.
